Asheville is a beautiful place to start over.

Asheville is abundant in natural beauty, located in western North Carolina in the Appalachian Mountains.  There is a wealth of outdoor activities year-round, a lively music and local arts scene, great restaurants, and a high quality of life.  Only a few miles from our house is the 469 mile Blue Ridge Parkway, considered the most scenic highway in the US.  The Parkway offers countless overlooks, biking trails, hiking trails, and campgrounds.  Western North Carolina enjoys elevations ranging from 6,684 feet at Mount Mitchell to 1,500 feet in the valleys.  While at Equinox Recovery residents can expect to experience all the natural amenities the mountains of Asheville have to offer.

Our home is located just 10 minutes from downtown Asheville.  Downtown is filled with beautiful art-deco architecture, an eclectic mix of boutiques and shops, and independent restaurants offering a variety of cuisines.  As a group we often go downtown and have dinner, shop, catch a concert at one of Asheville’s many venues, enjoy street performers, play drums in the weekly drum circle and, at times, just to view the layers of gorgeous mountains surrounding the city.

The recovery community in Asheville also offers countless meetings daily. There are meetings suitable for everyone, with both coed and single gender, varying from small, candle-lit meditation meetings to filled auditoriums with seasoned speakers. The Asheville area has a fantastic assortment of young people’s meetings as well. Asheville is one of the areas where it has become hip to be sober. This is one of the most supportive recovery communities in the world and people are frequently amazed at how different the meetings can be in such a positive environment.
