Nature is a Great Teacher!

Outdoor therapy involves the use of challenges found in nature (such as white water activities, hiking, biking, backpacking, and rock climbing) to provide growth experiences that can help our residents and Equinox Recovery make fundamental changes in their lives.  We have found that some young men come into our house closed off and introverted.  We have found the use of group social activities and wilderness therapy to be extremely therapeutic.  After a short time in our program we often see residents establish deeper connections with the natural world, gain the ability to trust through the experience of teamwork, develop a healthier approach to the issue of control, take responsibility for their actions and how those actions impact others, increase feelings of self-esteem, and help build the skills necessary to deal with difficult situations.
